Diesel Forklift
Diesel forklifts are optimal for heavy-duty operations that require lifting heavy loads. They are ideal for applications that require the transportation and lifting of heavier loads as they tend to be more powerful. Diesel forklifts are also more fuel-efficient than other types of forklifts and afford low operating costs, as diesel is often the cheapest fuel option. Due to the relatively high emissions from diesel forklifts, however, they are more suitable for outdoor rather than indoor use.
Gas Forklift
Gas forklifts are similar to propane forklifts, suitable for use in a wide range of industries and applications. Gas forklifts are lower in noise and exhaust emissions than diesel forklifts, making them suitable for use both indoors and outdoors. Environmentally friendly, they produce less carbon emissions and produce no lead or soot, and have no need for a charging bay, chargers or battery moving equipment.
Propane Forklift
Propane, or liquid propane powered LPG, forklifts are easily maintained, quick to refuel, and consistent in performance. It only takes about five minutes to change a propane cylinder in a propane forklift, whereas it can take up to eight hours to charge an electric forklift. Often cheaper than other forklifts, they are also reliable for indoor and outdoor use and can handle a range of terrains, load sizes and operating speeds. Propane forklifts are also less costly as there is no need for a charging bay, chargers or battery moving equipment.
Electric Forklift
Electric forklifts are engine-free and thus effectively counterbalanced, making them perfect for use in warehouses or manufacturing spaces. Electric forklifts are also rather large and forceful because they contain lead-acid batteries that are relatively large and heavy to power them. Known to be robust and powerful, these types of forklifts often have enough storage capacity in the battery to work through an eight-hour shift. Added benefits include no emissions or exhaust, reduced noise during operation, lower maintenance and servicing costs and a longer life span.
Dual Fuel
Dual fuel forklifts can be gasoline or LPG operated, and the driver is able to choose which type of fuel to use by controlling a switch on the dash board. Dual fuel machines contain world-class engines that provide low fuel consumption, low noise, and moderate power. The technology operates well in many applications, and is very reliable. With the choice of LPG (which has been proven to produce less emissions than diesel) or gasoline, users can decide which fuel option is most suitable at any given time.
